My Master-Ensuite Retreat

I must make a confession – I absolutely LOVE marble! I adore natural marble in all of its forms, so for my master –ensuite retreat I decided that I was going to go big with marble.

I wanted to create a timeless classic look with a bit of a twist. I used a white colour pallet and wasn’t afraid to play with shapes and curves to make the space come alive.

This room is filled with ample natural light, thanks to the two new picture windows. I had these installed forming a corner behind the tub for a sleek and modern look. My backyard borders onto the Rideau River, so privacy is not a concern.

I selected a stunning polished Bianco Gioia marble from Ciot for the space. This predominately white marble has subtle grey veins, splotches as well as hints of gold striation, bringing some movement into the tile. For the floor, I chose a large classic square tile which is complete with radiant heat under the tiles for a pleasant heated floor in the cooler months.

I chose to pair the large square floor tiles with large thin rectangular tiles for the walls that I had installed in a classic herringbone pattern. I continued the wall tile from the shower along the entire wall of the bathroom to give more interest to the space.

Although marble is typically seen as a more traditional and classic look, the wall-hung vanities from Wetstyle are distinctly modern, with their walnut and white glass drawer fronts. I love how the vanities float beside the curvy freestanding tub and sparkle from the Robert Abby chandelier.

I have an additional wall hung pantry unit in the closed-door toilet area that serves as a medicine cabinet and linen closet.

The beautiful faucets are Axor Starck by Hansgrohe and the polished chrome further bounces the natural light around the room.

Essential to the shower is a niche for shampoo and soap as well as a small built in bench. To complete this seamless look, I had the shower glass wall and door installed with trim only at the floor and ceiling level.

To complete the space I have accessorized with Hamman Turkish towels and touches of gold.

Even with the maintenance, natural marble does require some tender loving care. I am thrilled with the results of my master-ensuite and enjoy escaping into my bathroom retreat.

Regardless of the size of your space, I hope this gives you some inspiration to create your own bathroom retreat. - Michelle
